Welcome to Little Athletics

Welcome to the Wangaratta Little Athletics Centre

We offer a little athletics program for U6-U17 age groups at the Bill Eaton Athletics Complex, Appin Street Wangaratta, Victoria (grass surface).  We offer a Summer Season program on Friday evenings, which includes a range of events (not cross country or race walking).

About Little Athletics Victoria

Little Athletics Victoria has over 20,000 members competing on a weekly basis at 100 Centres across Victoria.

Summer and winter seasons offer different programs. Track & Field is run through summer and during winter many centres operate Cross Country. Events run by centres vary for different age groups.

Northern Country Region:

Little Athletics Victoria is divided into seven regions.  Wangaratta is a member of the Northern Country Region (NCR).  The NCR consists of 21 Centres including Bendigo, Mansfield, Lavington-Jindera and Mt Beauty, and has its own Committee made up of representatives from various Centres.  The NCR’s main responsibilities include:

  • Organising and conducting Region Relays, Track & Field and Cross Country events.
  • Facilitating communication between LAVic and its Centres.  This is achieved by holding four Region meeting per year and through regular contact with Centre Secretaries.
  • Promoting LAVic programs such as coaching, officiating and starters courses.
  • Assisting member Centres to achieve the aims of Little Athletics.

Athlete Education and Training:

There are many great clinics and courses available throughout the season for athletes to attend.  Please visit www.lavic.com.au for further information.  We will also post information about these on our Facebook page.

We are offering training for U9 – U17 24/25 Registered Members on Tuesday afternoons, 4:30-5:30pm aimed at athletes competing at Regional and State events.

JDS

The Junior Development Squad (JDS) gives U12-U16 athletes an opportunity to gain new skills and improve technical competencies through participation in coaching and training sessions with some of Victoria’s leading coaches.  For more information, please www.lavic.com.au
